Pissed at Diets?: how to teach anyone how to eat healthier without doing anything
The Worst things about all these diet books is the amount of habits people have to change to get a lifestyle to work.
For instance, the adage, oh eat healthier and start exercising. For someone who has never done those things. Its alot more than the horribly arbitrary 'eat better' and 'exercise'. Lets break it down..you know have to
1. Look up what is healthy?
2. Go to the grocery store where they don't know where to find them and try to buy some
3. Go home and figure out 'how to cook' and what goes with what
4. deal with the pressure from friends when they go out and socialize and say theyre on a diet
5. Then they have to get a exercise program
6. which program is better for their level?
7. How long do they work out for..now they have to get a gym membership
See where I am going?
And example of this was Tim Ferriss in the 4 hour body gave his dad one thing to focus on. 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking. No exercise. No other changes to his current diet. You probably thought it flopped? Nope. His fat loss was 18 lbs a month. WHAA??? Now think about this from a psychological level: You now have a HUGE WIN! in the form of results and youre ready for the next habit to incorporate into your life! And that's how its done!
Guiding Principle:
A decent program that you follow is better than the best program that you quit!
